Yamaha DTXplorer 5-piece Electronic Drum Kit

Posted on | March 16, 2010 | No Comments

The Yamaha DTXplorer 5-piece Electronic Drum Kit, from the world famous Yamaha family, is now on the market. Yamaha has produced several fantastic electronic drum kits in the DTX line and the DTXplorer is a welcome addition to the collection. The 5-piece kit includes a frame, 2 cymbal pads, four drum pads, one hi hat pad, bass drum pad, one hi-hat control panel, a bass drum pedal, and a ‘brain’ or control center.

The DTXplorer lets you create any sound you desire. As soon as you buy your electronic drum set follow the easy to assemble instructions and jump right in using the any of the 32 pre-set drum settings. The set has 214 drum and percussion sounds. It even has 10 unique drum user kits that allow drummers to use any of the pre-set sounds to custom build their own kit. Pre-programmed songs let you play like a superstar. You can mute the drum tracks from the pre-recorded songs and play them yourself.

You Have to Start Somewhere!

The DTXplorer is a great choice for beginning drummers. It offers teaching modes and a metronome that you can program. The metronome will play different time signatures while a groove check will let you know if you are on beat, ahead of the beat, or behind the beat. Yamaha’s own rhythm gate mode mutes sound from any hit that is not on beat.

A big concern with any electronic drum kit is feeling. Does the kit feel real? Yamaha does a great job of mimicking the feel of an acoustic drum set. The pads have good bounce and feel. The reaction time of the pads is the best of any electronic set on the market. They can support super fast stokes without losing any hits.

Rockin’ Time

Once you set up your DTXplorer kit you can adjust the bass drum pad. The sensitivity adjustment lets you determine how hard you need to strike the pad for a response. The pedal is a sturdy FP-6110 single beater with a spring adjusted for double strokes. The pad is well-built and can withstand all the ‘rockin’ you dish out and not show wear and tear.

The control center or the ‘brain’ of the DTXplorer is highly user friendly. It looks easy and it is easy. However, there are more options inside the brain than you will ever use – even advanced drummers would be hard-pressed to use all the fantastic options Yamaha includes with this model. For example, you can adjust the specific sound of a cymbal or the overall timbre with the push of a button.

The brain is where you will find the pre-set tracks to play along with and the modeling tone module that offers 214 drum and percussion sounds. You can also plug your mp3 player into the brain’s headphone slot to play along to other music.

No Time Like the Present

Do you want to play drums this weekend? Order the DTXplorer drum kit and get ready to have some fun. The DTXplorer is lightweight and flexible which keeps shipping costs down making the kit even more affordable.

Overall, the Yamaha DTXplorer 5-piece Electronic Drum Kit is a great buy. It is affordable and the best kit in its price range on the market. Beginners will love the teaching capabilities and experienced drummers will appreciate the high-quality sound, the drum settings, and the sturdy but flexible design.
